Sharing in the Life and Ministry of the Passionists

 Fr. Cedric Pisegna, CP

"Missions renew people in their faith journey. Some start to pray more meaningfully…Others celebrate forgiveness for their sins and begin a whole new relationship with God."

~Father Cedric Pisegna, CP,
full-time itinerant preacher

Sharing in the Life & Ministry of Passionists

Through your support of the priorities of this Campaign, you are also participating in the life and ministry of Holy Cross Province. The array of ministries of Holy Cross Province is the lived expression of the Passionist mission to proclaim God’s love.

Sharing through Preaching the Word of God: St. Paul of the Cross crisscrossed Italy preaching a message of compassion and hope. Passionists today continue this commitment to the Word by preaching parish renewal missions throughout the United States. Some Passionists are full-time "itinerant preachers," while other Passionists serve as preachers as their other duties allow.

Sharing through Retreat Ministry: Passionists serve as retreat leaders and staff at four retreat centers: Christ the King in Citrus Heights, CA; Holy Name in Houston, TX; Mater Dolorosa in Sierra Madre, CA; and St. Paul of the Cross in Detroit, MI. Thousands of men, women and young people come each year to these beautiful sanctuaries and feel immediately welcomed by the warm hospitality and compassionate spirit of the Passionists.

Sharing through Mission Outreach: American Passionists from Holy Cross Province are serving in Korea and Japan. More than thirty Passionists serve in the India Mission. Their urban and village outreach includes education, parish work, prison ministry, programs of economic assistance and retreat ministry. The India Mission has blessed the Province with a robust number of religious vocations.

Sharing through Education: The Passionists support three schools in Birmingham, Alabama - St. Mary’s Catholic School of Performing Arts, Holy Family Elementary School, and Holy Family Cristo Rey Catholic High School. All three schools provide a quality education rooted in faith to the children of very financiallychallenged families. Passionists serve in the schools or associated parishes.

Sharing through Parish Life and Chaplaincies: Passionists serve as regular staff at several parishes, while other Passionists serve as dedicated hospital chaplains, ministering to those who are experiencing the Passion of Christ in a profound way.

Sharing through Prayer: Prayer is the foundation of Passionist life. The Passionists receive thousands of prayer requests from friends and benefactors each month. These intentions are remembered daily in the prayers of the Passionist Community. Senior Passionists, who may not be able to serve "in the field" as they once did, are still active and dedicated to their ministry of prayer.
