“Allow yourself to discover who God made you. I think where there is interconnectedness, there is meaning. Conversely, isn’t when we feel we are disconnected that we find shallowness and meaninglessness? If this is true, then finding meaning means plugging back into the sources of meaningfulness. And I think meaningfulness is all around. The deeper question is the investment of the heart.
If you are a person who has invested yourself and believes inwhatever cause is in your heart and you are willing to invest and devote your energy for it—even to the point of suffering—then you will discover a veryimportant gift. And that is that you have come ALIVE!
The next level of this is the faith level. Am I doing what I’mdoing only for myself, or is God somehow inviting me to participate? Is it not God who is giving me the energy, desire, and passion? And if this is from God, then what am I learning about God? What am I learning about God’s dream, God’s desire, God’s passion?
When I entertain such thoughts my prayer changes, and my relationship with God changes. Moreover, my identity changes. I discover notwho I think I want to be, but who God has made me. And at that place, there’s tremendous joy and peacefulness.”
