“A prayerful approach to the Passion. The Passion of Christ just becomes an easily accessible way of breaking right into prayer on the spur of the moment. Not only when we ourselves go through the experience of prayer, but when this other part of our charism, the sufferings in the lives of others, whenever we come across that—whether it’s reading about it in the papers or learning about it in our conversation, or seeing it on television, the suffering people in war ravaged areas for example—that can very frequently trigger an almost instant connection to this residual memory of sufferings of Christ within prayer. So, I find our prayerful approach to the Passion rising to the fore of our lives and taking charge when we reflect upon it .”
