“Come from a love of Christ.”
Fr. Paul Bechtold, CP, 1.14.04
“Come from a love of Christ. I do believe that Passionist life is worth living—only if it’s lived generously. Ministry must come from a love of Christ, a love of the Church, a desire to help people in their quest. In many instances, the Cross is the only reply we can give people in their sorrows, in their difficulties, in their questions. And always, there will be mystery, there will unanswered questions, there will be need of trust. But here again, if we can point to people who have negotiated that path with courage and are at peace, I think it can assure and help people in what they have to do.
I have found that, without being aware of it at the time, my own example has helped people, that they have felt that I am a convinced person, that I reveal who I am in what I do and say, and this itself is a help to them.”
Fr. Paul Bechtold, CP, 1.14.04
