The original St. Paul of the Cross Retreat.
An early men’s retreat.
Mission Statement
In the spirit of St. Paul of the Cross we welcome all who seek to deepen and renew the awareness of God’s presence in their lives.
We proclaim the unconditional love of God revealed in the mystery of the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a spirit of compassion, we cooperate with others of goodwill who seek to lift the burden of human suffering.
We provide a quiet place in which to hear and respond to God’s word, to go forth to love God and serve others.
Our History
Begun in 18th Century Italy, the Passionist Congregation spread to America in 1853. Passionists located to Detroit in 1930 and built St. Paul of the Cross Monastery on West Davison.
In 1948 retreats for laity were organized and conducted within the Monastery. The modern Center building, adjacent to the original facility, opened in 1960 and was expanded in 1997.
Today St. Paul of the Cross Retreat Center offers weekend retreats for Catholic laity and hosts a variety of programs and services for all who seek God’s face.
